Beat Your Own Track Cycling Tours

“for the NOT so GRAND Tours”

About “Beat Your Own Track”….Is an organisation set up to take the road less travelled.  More and more people are travelling to experience the hype of the GRAND Tours like the Tour de France and Giro d’Italia.  We’re not!!

Our objectives are to take the alternate routes, the roads less travelled, the ones with a sense of mystery and the unknown.  International destinations like Thailand, Vietnam and Guatemala.  Domestic locations like Camooweal, Tennant Creek and Winton.

It’s great to come back from a holiday and share your experience with friends and family.  Imagine telling them about the Eiffel Tower in Paris or the Leaning Tower of Pisa in Italy…..everyone has heard of them (and many of us have seen them!!)  Now imagine telling them about the Antigua (capital of Guatemala) cityscape from the top of Cerro de la Cruz.  Or what if you were able to tell them of your trip to Ayuthaya.  Where?  Many Australians have been to Thailand and can tell you all about Phuket, Koh Samui and Bangkok.  Not many realise Ayuthaya is Thailand’s old capital and is now considered a World Heritage site by UNESCO with many striking ancient temples.

Beat Your Own Track can take you to international tours with world class cyclists in locations like these without the massive crowds the GRAND Tours draw.  Tours that don’t come with the same level of organisation and pizzazz as the Grand Tours, but more than compensate with adventure and the unexpected.

Beat Your Own Track was started by Chris Carson (aka Adnuk Fognik).  Chris has been involved in cycling for over 20 years as both a competitor and organiser.  Competitively he has competed at State and National level and has six international cycling tours under his belt.  At an organisational level he has successfully organised an annual world class criterium series (2003 – 2004).  He was also a co-organiser of the National Road Series event, the Barkly Challenge (a National Series road race that ran from 1992 – 2004).  An event in which he annually put together an international team that consisted of professionals and National Champions from Mongolia to Holland, and New Zealand to Guam.

Beat Your Own Track has a set program for 2012 that can cater for up to 36 cyclists per trip.

Each trip will have at least one experienced guide per twelve riders.  Our guides have a past or present racing pedigree and a wealth of experience in cycling.  Guides that can indulge you in many cycling stories; assist you in how best to tackle the conditions on the road; and change your tyre or true a spoke.

As well as the set calendar we can work with individuals, groups and/or companies to create a tailor made tour to suit your wants and needs.  We are happy to discuss the distances and destinations you are looking to conquer.

Example….66km a day for 7 days on Route 66 - Flagstaff, ARIZONA to Albuquerque, NEW MEXICO.  Distance approx 450km.

Training……we can give you a basic program of what you need to be doing before embarking on each specific cycling adventure.  However we can recommend several fully qualified coaching clinics with professional coaches that will get the optimum performance out of you for each trip.
